Strange Overtones

This is my contribution to the Strange Overtones show. A project curted by Kevin Titzer.
He writes "This project was conceived during the first Covid-19 lockdown in the US. It was inspired out of a need to reach out to others during a most peculiar time. That time is still far from over and our need for community, friendship, and hope still persists. It started when I mailed each artist an identical clay head I made and asked them to alter it however they saw fit."

Klick the link to se more heads and Kevin's work!
Thank you for letting me be a part of this project, Kevin.

Dramatiker Ninna Tersman. Scenograf Camilla Engman. Kostymör Linda Wallgren. Skräddare Amanda Modin. Ljussättare Reinhold Erzmoneit. Ljuddesigner Martin Fremling. Snickare och konstruktör Colin Ferguson. Sufflörer Mirella Hetekivi, Moa Roos, Karin Svensson. Hönsestrik a lovestory

Björn Hellström and I have in joint effort (ENGMAN HELLSTRÖM) taken photos for Anna Bauer's new book about knitting - "Hönsestrik a lovestory".

"Hønsestrik - a Danish knitting style from the 70’s, which literally translates into “Chicken Knit”. Hønsestrik is done with bright colours on a double pointed needle, so no purling is needed. The technique seems to have found inspiration in fair isle patterns, but with the Hønsestrik patterns resembling every day objects, animals and people to a greater extent. But besides the very bright colours and naive patterns (which I think look adorable on kids, maybe not so much on grown men with beards…) Hønsestrik is really all about making a political statement and challenging the norms of society at the time." - Knitted Cakes

Where are we heading

Björn and I are working on something new. Well I shouldn't call it new, since it is the next step in our latest ongoing collaboration. Or at least that is what we think, you can never be sure where things land. I do my best to trust the process and my partner in crime.

Ceramic collaboration

I went to Stockholm, to continue the work with Karin at Manos. It doesn't happen as often as I wish, nowadays. But still, it is always a pleasure when it does.

The anniversary cups coming this Sunday!

When Karin and I realized that our friendship, this fall celebrates ten years, we thought something special was needed to mark the anniversary. So we created a set of cups in our own specialities - My illustrations paired with Karins ceramics. Making a set of cups feels like the ultimate way to celebrate our friendship and collaboration.

Everything will be ready and available this Sunday in manos webshop. We'll keep you posted!

Karin Eriksson was here the other day! Soon, pretty soon this will be a couple of cups/mugs with a handle. And soon they will be for sale at Manos, virtually and in the the shop at Renstiernas gata in Stockholm. And hopefully some more shops because these will be available for wholesale as well :-)
