on my shelves

The softies name is Fran, she's from Australia - Loobylu. Since it was such a long trip for her she brought a travel companion, Mr Pear. For a long time I've been thinking of a way to display my cute softies from different parts of the world. Haven't come up with any - yet.

Here's another type of collection.

Wassup?

So what's going on... I've start working with the 2008 calendar, I still need to fix some things with the prints package before it turns up in my "shop", Maria and I have only one more season collaboration left to do (to bad), I'm thinking of buying a new camera (the one I have is from 2001!)... oh yes, I'm now one of the IF-bloggers (haven't posted anything yet though).

The bird on the first picture is supposed to be a finch, I don't think I will ever see a finch without thinking of this lady.

Jewellery

My new and gorgeous necklace! It's made by Katy Hackney. She's a part of Shelf in London (where she also sell her work), they have done some vitreous enamel plaques with Robert Ryan that looks like something I would like to get my hands on. I love my new necklace!

Prints

Finally I've got the prints from the printer! They are offset printed on 260 g/0.57 Ib Chagall paper. I still need to fix a little bit with the packaging before they will turn up in the shop. I will of course let you know when :)

best friends

Friday meeting

Today Sandra and I went to Elisabeth, we had an inspiration-meeting, with lots of magazines and applepie :)

I saw this porcelain doll head candle holder in one of Elisabeths Milk magazine. I found my way to Park life through Hoping for happy accidents. When I was about 10 years old I had a pendant like this, I really loved it. I think it was my first favorite jewellery.

This was/is supposed to be a selfportrait, my face sort of disappeard under the process. Strange huh?

Teatime

First of all I'd like to thank you for all comments on the last post :)
I've been working a lot lately, the weather has been mostly bad and I'm greatful for that. Now when these assignments are almost finished I will start to work on the 2008 calendar (2007), I have no idea how it will turn out this year...

I participated in another group show at Thinkspace, I forgot to take a photo of my piece before I sent it :( But here it is "I've never had a broken heart" collage.

Converse

This spring I got an e-mail, this is a part of it -
"The design team at Converse has picked your work from 100s of artists to potentially be a part of our Converse (RED) program. (RED) is simply and magnificiently a program established by BONO of U2 to help reduce the effects of AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis within Africa." http://www.joinred.com/

- After that I received a a pair of Chuck Taylor All Star shoes on which I was supposed to make some kind of design. I wrote something about it and after beeing processed through a copy writer ;) this is how it came out -
"For Converse 1HUND(RED) Artists, Engman drew upon the fabled character of Little Red Riding Hood as her primary inspiration. Engman noted, “The artist’s role in contributing to a cause is to try to help us see the cause anew, to understand it, to feel it in a visceral way.” She chose the character for her pluck and bravery, her warmth and kindness, and her iconic familiarity. Indeed, the Little Red Riding Hood character appears in many of Camilla’s works as a recurring motif. “I wanted the design not to interfere too much with the shoe and to be something I would like to wear myself. The Little Red Riding Hood character has appeared in many of my paintings and drawings and probably will again. She has so many attributes that I like,” she added."

Currently they're sampling my shoe, which means that if they get enough orders, then they will actually manufacture it! Isn't that fantastic. Keep your fingers crossed for me :)

Ok, here's some links - Container, a link from Tummy ache
Papercraft at the Tokyo based magazine, PinMag, here's the paper moomin characters.
I think that's all for today :)

Stina Wirsén

I just had to buy this little book by Stina Wirsén - "Vems mormor" (who's grandmother). It's about Nalle, she has a grandmother. But she also has a cousin that share the same grandmother... but Nalle thinks that the grandmother is hers, she doesn't like to share and dislikes the cousin - at first. I posted another picture from the book on Flickr.

Music - Sweden

This weekend I went to a concert with the swedish band The fleshquartet - with guest singers, some of the best singers in Sweden (Freddie Wadling, Anna Ternheim, Theodor Jensen, Andreas Mattsson, Kristian Walz, Nicolai Dunger). I almost can't beleive how many good (extraordinary good) singers we have. The man in the photo above, Freddie Wadling (they call him - Caruso from Hell), has one of the best voices in the world! Here is a song with the Fleshquartet, Freddie and Stina Nordenstam - Walk.

Way out west

There is a music festival here in my parc, Slottsskogen, this weekend. Way Out West, so many good bands, I wish I had a ticket - I was to slow and all the tickets are sold out. I'm working on a map of Gothenburg and realized that "my parc" looks like a heart and I live on Paradise street :)

Graffiti

I'm not sure if you can call it graffiti, but that's what I think about it. It makes people keep their eyes open, and who knows - maybe even their minds. I put them there under a walk with Morran. It didn't last long though.

Something is very irritating

Strange things happens when you are supposed to be working.

Ah-yi, that's where I found the link to Astrid's book (thank you Elisabeth) and also this link to Shelly Steffee.

I better go back to work...

Friday

Suddenly I had way to much work! What to do? Take a day off :)

Starting with a big american breakfast.
Next stop - the art museum and Hasselblad center. I really liked Katarina Elvén's big close up photos of fabric. Can't find any site with her work unfortunately. Then it's time for some sushi. Who's that, unpatiently waiting outside :)

I found this link on someones site that I frequently visit, but I've forgot where it was, I apologize for that - Astrid Stampe's wonderful book.

See you on monday (I guess I'll have to start working now)
