The first part of my day

On my way to my yoga class. I'm always late, I have to concentrate where I put my feets trying to be quick down the stairs. There is always time for a photo.
After yoga - a fika with a friend in a very white and chocolaty café. What more can you ask for :)

I haven't had so much time for surfing and exploring lately. Abigail had some nice blog-links today: The happy campers, I'm dreaming of my summervacation, I love to sleep in my tent. Kris's color stripes and Tas-ka.

A super nice plate by Stig Lindberg.

Picnic

We had a (7 years) birthday picnic in the Botanical garden. Warm chocolate and coffee, chocolate cupcakes and two whole bottles of cream :) there can never be to much cream. The dogs learned to recognize the sound of cream coming out from the bottle very quick.

Post-shopping-friday

I met up with Sandra after a shopping tour, I guess we ended the night just in time ;)

Rare Device San Fransisco is now open. I wish it was a little bit closer.

Shari's and Judy's posts about Maira Kalman's book - the Principles of Uncertainty - (got to have it!) reminded me that Maira was a big reason why I become an illustrator. I think she is fantastic. I wanted to add a link, the Illustrated Woman.

Frost

Crispy cold and clear outside, warm inside. If I don't think about that summer is over and a long grey and cold winter is ahead, I find autumn my favorite season. Full of colours and full of smell.
This is one of my Wawaya's (I've got three, I'll show you the other two another day).

Look at these fairytale dolls Ulla wrote about.
Here's another cutie - sleepy dragonfly.

Front - back

I don't think I could do the back on purpose, if you know what I mean. It's like how leaves fall on the ground, they always land on the perfect spot.

I'm up too late, but still try to wake up as usuall. After some days this will get you pretty tired, that's where I'm now. I think I'll sleep in tomorrow :)

Here's todays links: I would love to be the owner of one of Alma Allen's sculptures (link from Hoping for Happy Accidents)

Autumn and bread

Autumn and bread, two really nice things :) Morran is waiting outside my favorite bakery, I tried to resist the Pain au chocolate with not so good result.

Have you seen the beautiful things Ana is working on, here and here!?

PIF

Take a look at the photo Smosch's took.

Pay It Forward (I will follow Bibbi) - here's the rules:
"I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog."

I know there is the time difference, I can't do it "right", sorry for that.

Istanbul - last post

So this is my last Istanbul post. It was a wonderful trip, just a few days but so full of impressions. Much colours and patterns (for a swedish girl with a very white aparment ;). All the people we met were very nice. I will definately try to go there again. I've made a slide-show at Flickr. As you know Karin was one of my travel companions, here's her slide-show.

Istanbul - ölüm tehlikesi

Mehmet Akyıldız music video. More music from Turkey.

I like this picture collections.

Istanbul - Ayasofya

"Is a former patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, now a museum. Famous in particular for its massive dome, it is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. It was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years, until the completion of the Medieval Seville Cathedral in 1520." - Wikipeda. This is how it looks from the outside.

Istanbul - Büyükada

I got a comment from Dilay saying I had to visit the island Büyükada, so I did :) Motorized vehicles are forbidden, so you have to walk or explore the island by bicycle, in horse-drawn carriages, or by riding donkeys. We didn't have enough time for walking so we took a horse carriage up to the top and this restaurant with a fantastic view, and total silence.

Istanbul - with a lot of sound

I think it was Pomegranath season, I had a big glass of Pomegranath juice every day. We bought a lot of good food, Baklavas and wine and had a picnic on our hotel roof. Picture this with the sound of muslim prayers from minarets around the city. We had a very good view over the city (or a part of it. Istanbul's population is about 12.000.000 persons! My whole country's population, Sweden, is 9.000.000).

I've found two paper related blogs that I like a lot. The first one is Edizioni who make fantastic little books (I saw that Book by its cover blogged about it the other day), and the second one is Little Paper Bird who does amazing things with paper.

Istanbul - walking around

We where walking around a lot. We tried to find another location of the 10th International İstanbul Biennial, it was pretty hard. No signs and people didn't seem to know anything about it. One very good thing about looking for a specific location is that you find your way to places you probably wouldn't otherwise. We finally found the gallery. Trying to find the gallery was a much better part than visiting the gallery... For me the city and everything with it was so exciting, the art could not live up to that. Maybe the same things had been great for me here in Gothenburg? I decided to give up, just to let the city overwhelm me. Some of the others went for more art and they where pleased so...
Kassel, in Germany, is a much more boring city (sorry Kassel) and they have Documenta, maybe that's a better artexperience.

Istanbul - Taksim

One of the reasons for going to Istanbul was the 10th International İstanbul Biennial. The first stop was at Atatürk Cultural Centre, the building was much more interesting than the art. Or maybe it was just that the building ate the art. Vahram Aghasyan, Nancy Davenport.

While searching for a link to ACC I found this great site - ArchNet.

Istanbul - Basilica cistern

Yerebatan Sarayı - the Basilica Cistern was built in the 6th century (bigger photo). Here's one of two Medusa heads. Isn't she lovely.
