It's beautiful!
What a lovely thing to have to remember her by.

I have my grandmother's sewing box too - it's much smaller! - I try not to open it too much as it smells wonderful inside & I don't want to lose that smell - musty wood :)

How fantastic! It is beautiful. I like how it looks against the white wall but picks up similar colors in your bookshelves.

lovely. what are you planning to do with it?!? why is it empty?

You are right it is a treasure and I'm lucky.

Ashlee, I just had to go and smell in it after your comment.. just old wood :)

Connie, I just got it from my mother and haven't decided how to use it yet. Maybe for its purpose.

So incredibly beautiful! And even better because it is a family heirloom. I really cherish the things like this that I have from my family. (Although I don't have anything of this sort...to bad.)

Camilla this is a treasure-chest! I've been wanting to share with you that I've got one too! It's my grandpa's war chest from the 1940's and I keep the collection of love letters inside that my grandparents wrote to each other just before and during WWII. I've just posted pictures on my weblog. Good luck with your box, I'd love to stay informed about what you're going to do with it!
