Underwater sculptures

The world’s first underwater sculpture park outside Grenada, by Jason de Caires Taylor. Here's more of his work on land. This beautiful link was found through Bibbi.

wow - that is absolutely beautiful. thanks for posting this. i've never heard of this person, or their work. i've always been fascinated by the undersea world and love going to aquariums but have never been able to bring myself to try to scuba dive... but i'd try if i could see that.

It's beautiful and a little bit scary!! Thanks for the link.
But I think this is not outside Madrid... well yes...but very outside!!! It's the Mediterranean sea... it takes hours from here (4)!!
I've read that it was near Granada (Andalucia. South of Spain). A very beautiful place Granada!! I recommend it!

thanks for sharing this, camilla, this is great work. amazing jason de caires taylor! love his work. actually, the underwater sculpture park is in grenada island, in the caribbean, not in granada, spain (unfortunatly, it would be much more easy for me to visit).
love to you & morran

I just went "under water" through your link. At first it is just fantastic, awe happens. Then when I read, and keep looking at the concepts, its stark, political, personal and public. Really meant to provoke us!

The underwater "still life setting" seems free and likable to me for the first time, opened of its box and breathing, and then the man at the desk and the woman with her insides opened to the flowing current, it is so intelligent. very provoking.

A few years ago i hung with a bunch of people doing sculpture and one girl was into body casting, our parts are all over the place, in gardens, instillations, heads with that green mossy clenching into the pores of them--I thought, what would it feel like to imagine a replca part of my own body down in that watery grave *which may be wrong word* and its beyond explanation. At first it was awesome to think I want to be cast and part of the link, but th=en No. I would feel amputated, half alive there, like something of my self were calling me to submerge and rescue something--which is partly his point probably--the switch in perceptual emotions.

It would be an intersting question to ask people, would they like to have their body cast in concrete and down there? Too much to say. Too much. Big Yellow Band Aid. I wish it would stay on. "O
