Today

Today was Semla day and a day for reading about Konstepidemin (here you can see me in my studio sofa) in Uppercase Magazine. A good day :)

Take a look at Elisabeth Åström's studio at Konstepidemin's blog, she works as a set designer, costume designer and artist.

  1. wonderful and cosy as always... and semla - ah semla! - I am still on a chase for this swedish treat but no luck here in London.
Is it easy to make them at home?

  2. Hmmm Semla! Dear Camilla, I love your yellow bag, it´s wonderful - could you tell me a secret, where to buy some? And another question - will you be in bologna this year? Maybe an opportunity for a meeting?

  3. So nice! I saw these cakes when I was in Stockholm last weekend (they're so big!) and I took Uppercase to read on the plane. Loved the article about Konstepidenim, it looks such an interesting, stimulating place to work in!

  4. It is easy to make! It is a wheat bun with cardamum, in the middle there are almondpaste (?) and on the top - whipped cream. I'm sure you can find an english receip somehwere on the net!

The bag is an Orla Kiely bag.

I'll be in Bologna for two days... I'll be part of an exhibition somewhere... I will tell you more later on :) Would be nice to meet up.

  6. Those semla look absolutely delicious! I've never ha done before, but they remind me of cream puffs. Are they similar?

I love that studio you shared. You never really think about what is involved in designing a set while watching a performance, but it made me realise how much work goes into it. Thank you for sharing :)

  9. in austria, semla are called "krapfen" (filled with apricot jam, vanilla pudding or plum puree) and since yesterday was the last day of the carnival, we ate them till we nearly burst... ;)

  12. Ah, thank you, Camilla. I've been waiting for your semla photo. I have given up trying to make them at home (in the US)--they just don't taste as good as the ones you get in Sweden, so your lovely photos must suffice, as least this year. The recipes call for kesella, for which I substitute kvark, which is hard enough to find, but I fear that the differences in dairy products (this has a lot!) are just too great.
