Forest acquaintance

This is a mix between a Black Grouse/Orre and a Capercaillie/Tjäder (wood Grouse), in swedish they are called a Rackelhane, they are unable to bread. He was very agressive and specific on where you were allowed to walk.

So beautiful! I love the frosty landscape. Oddly enough we had summer-like weather today.

Oh, I love these forest walk glimpses. Seeing a forest creature is a little bit magical, especially when they acknowledge your presence ;) whatever their mood is!

Vackra bilder - jag blir nostalgic!

Ooh I thought that was a Capercaillie- I really want to see one of those but they are only in Scotland and hard to find...it's funny the things you can get excited about if they are uncommon where you live.

I like birds that talk to you, let you know what is up and where to go.

funny (the chicken)
and beautiful! (the landscape)

Camilla, isn't the bird some subspecie of Tetrao tetrix, which you call Orre in swedish?
Concerning the Capercaille- Tetrao urogallus (Tjäder), be sure you'll see one of them in Sweden, provided you spend the night in the right place in the woods, in early april, when it's their breeding season.
They are not a specific scottish specie: you can spot them all over Europe.

It is a mix between an Orre and a Tjäder. They are very uncommon and they can't normally bread.
