Before I started a blog I had a journal where I wrote down things I noticed. I started doing that after reading a book written by Erlend Loe, I think it was "Naive, super". It helped me to notice things, to appreciate it and to see that strange and sometimes wonderful/ugly things happens. I will try to find that journal again. Taking photos helps me to see things, but it is hard to photograph a course of events or a conversation overheard at the bus.
Today I met a man when I was out walking in the park/forest, he didn't talk very good swedish but we said hello to each other and started to talk. He went to this off path place everyday. He had brought two beers and two deserts :) He had a plastic bag full of breads and walnuts, he was waiting for his friends. Everyday birds and especially squirrels came and got something to eat, they had become friends and I could see that he was happy about it. He pointed out a little mountain of walnut shells. I sat down and waited for the squirrels with him. Then two friends show up, human friends, I thought he was talking about the squirrels when he talked about his human friends. After a while I could see a squirrel jumping from one tree to another to get to teh meetingpoint. I had to leave because Morran gets crazy about squirrels. He said I was welcome back any day.
Heather Smith Jones and Alicia has this Noticing Project.
3191 is another one.
And on the Illustration Friday blog Amanda has noticed the beard trend :)

lät som ett fint möte!
I really enjoyed that story, thanks.
Oh that's a nice story Camilla. In the new year, I started keeping keeping a little wildlife diary of the weather and things I see when walking my dog, Hazel - usually early in the morning. I don't write everyday and also put in other things as well.
The Flickr pictures from the photo shoot are lovely - you must be very pleased with them - beautiful light.
camilla... i love your story. and what you notice
i notice you taking the image, tiny-tiny in the God's image.
:)
What a sweet story...very heartwarming. When I saw that first image I thought they'd made a sculpture of one of your trees!
very nice story! ;)) babsf
I can totally see you illustrating that story about the man and his squirrel friends.
thats really lovely, the man and the squirrel. I also saw a squirrel eating walnuts today in a park and the way he does it is just so cute, so beautiful even and I couldn't get my eyes off him until he dropped the walnuts on the grass and tried to search for it desperately and this event made my day...
Camilla, I agree. I often wish I could photograph a sound, a story, a fragrance, a memory etc. I guess some things are meant to be told.
thank you for this, smile smile.
Often I want to keep things in my head. I think I don't want to record this, I want it to remain a memory but then I worry that it won't, that I will forget what I have noticed. I loved your story. Noticing is very important!
it's good to notice.
what a sweet man.
Wonderful story, Camilla. How many silent stories are around us? It is always nice to notice them.
thanks for sharing. A little fisherman without a beard came to join me at the table today thanks to you! xx
A slightly belated comment but still, just wanted to say that I had exactly the same transfer from a "diary of fleeting moments" to blog.
Not to mention the frustrations with (not) carrying around my large camera all the time and not recording sound bytes of conversations :))
Don't know how it is with you but I must admit I am far better at keeping my blog than I was with the paper diary, though it was a splendid medium.
