same here, seen it as a child many many years ago. i had my own red balloon, too, but it flew away...
i still think those round, plain balloons are the only real balloons ;)

My three year old has been obsessed with that film for a while. We even have the book (it isn't as good).

Ah, I am o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d with red balloons! I don't know why, there's just something so romantic I find about them. My dream is to get a "bouquet" of red balloons for my birthday one year. Great image, I'll have to check out the film.

This film made such a big impression on me...I think I was about six at the time. I don't think we ever recover from the experience of that very first balloon either popping or floating away.

Dear Camilla,
I do not know whether to be happy or not. We are planning a picture book on balloons, but this movie makes all we thought and elaborate up till now futile.
So, thank you, more or less.
Ciao

I just saw this film recently for the first time and am so glad that I did. I love your drawing - there is nothing happier or more comforting to me than a red ballon!

I love Le Ballon Rouge. It reminds me of elementary school. We would often watch this film in the auditorium on days when it rained and we couldn't go out for recess. The projector would always break at some point during the movie! Such vivid memories. Your illustration is a fresh look at an old favorite.

Dear Camilla,

I love my calendar - got it a while back, but then I was sick and I am very behind one email and blogging :)

I wanted to let you know that I have started a new "artists who blog" interview site with your interview and many new ones. I would like to invite you to drop by and please tell me what you think.
www.artistswhoblog.blogspot.com

I thought the interviews needed their own space, to make them more special!

I wish you a wonderful 2009 - my little daughter loves your calendar too :)
