Shapes and patterns

I've been to Italy many times. I like Italy and I like the italian people and their language. They have always been nice, and they don't care that I can't speak the language. I've visited Rome twice before this trip, but that was a long time ago, back-packing without any money. I'm not a historical interested person, I guess I don't have enough knowledge. But when you are in Rome there is no escape, you can't help asking your self questions about how it was - back then. Even B.C (before Christ). What were we doing in Sweden at the same time... (Iron age). No wonder why their food and coffee is so good, they had so long time to make it perfect.

My favorite building in Rome is definately Pantheon, 120 B.C (last photo). It is something about it that I just love. The only light source is from this open hole it the top, not only light but rain comes through the hole. Could you imaging standing there one of the rare days with snow coming down. Pantheon was originally built as a temple to "all the gods" of Ancient Rome. Here's some photo's of Pantheon.

years ago, I read that they were trying to build a subway system in Rome. they constantly found relics and remains of buildings, then the area was declared a historical monument, and they had to divert the plan for the tracks... don't know whatever happened.

All mediterrean countries have this great favourable climate for agriculture (all the year) and made so many food culture exchanges trough centuries; especially Italy whith his Mitteleuropa openning in Alps mountains, then you can find such a variety of wonderful (fresh) food…
Venice's history gives this sort of vertigo too!

I know what you mean about the Pantheon. I lived around the corner from it for a year when I was 14.
Such a long time ago it seems like a dream. Your pictures are lovely.
